See... either PlayNC and Anet have an insider.. or they have been hacked themselves.......
btw... PlayNC/Anet do not have your passwords, they are your passwords that they do not know...... |

The only reason you should be concerned is if you use the same password for GW as you do for other things like forums, other games, etc.. if that's the case you should probably change it to something different for GW anyway even without this new warning.

Actually that is incorrect, they do have every single person's password. Whether or not it is encoded within their database is another question and even then, it is possible for them to access any password they want. That's just the same as, any admin with full access to this website has access to everyone's passwords as well, but again it's a question of encoding, which again doesn't change anything. The passwords have to be stored somewhere, and there is most definitely a database set up for it.

the solution is this. to hack that u really need some skill and most likely would target a bank ... and while I am at it, its worth to "copy" some good things for gw2 (authenticator, auction house, ...)

That is correct but those rules changed in the last month(s) of XTH; the last month (or maybe a bit longer) you could only login to the XTH website by using the login-info from gw itself. Soon after XTH was taken down...

The bad thing is one of them was a friends who quit (3 years ago) and it wont let me log back on it. So unless I figure out wtf happened i'm screwed (dont have the CD key or anything). |

Online game accounts get stolen so much... I would swear it's like 1/4th of the Chinese economy.
A Singaporean friend of mine visited China on a school trip at a pretty mature age, and at the internet cafes there, he said he saw that all the vacant computers were just running bots farming gold. =/ |

Hey guys, change your passwords asap, all my storage money was taken and a few 15ks erased
And no, I've never used any bots or anything questionable. The password for gw was only shared on a few sites like play nc and an email account... [edit] Shoot, just realized that they had the old black dye on them too Last edited by IIIBNIII; Dec 18, 2009 at 03:39 AM // 03:39.. |

Change it. That or hide all your money on a low level alt. Also, it seems as if the hackers are only taking out the armor pieces with the most expensive runes on them, like vigor. Sucks that I can't get the old black dye pieces back though... Never did like the new ones... And I'm sure anet won't do squat about this...

I'm totally paranoid now, I scanned my comp. with about 5 different antivirus/spyware etc. then changed my pass to a looooong one. I think I can safely say if I get hacked it won't have been my fault. Hope to god I don't though, that'll ruin Wintersday
